Dmitry Druzhinsky notes that the R Baby Foundation is the country’s sole nonprofit organization working to save infants’ lives by improving pediatric care, and to date, has donated $8 million towards hospital programs while saving more than one million lives. The organization’s tennis tournament started in 2010, under the guidance of Jason Pinsky, who explained: “Six years ago I saw the foundation was doing a golf event, and I suggested we should do a tennis event. The first year was sort of a test and it went well, and the demand has been high ever since. We bring together a great group of competitive guys for a great cause.” In the past two years, the R Baby Foundation is proud to have raised over $500,000 for childcare campaigns including telemedicine with pediatric experts, mobile simulation training programs, along with symposiums.

Every year, politicians, business and media professionals, celebrities, and sports fans gather to watch the fast-paced wall ball competition. In 2015 local leaders from Brooklyn and the Bronx began smashing the ball to the wall at MatchPoint NYC in the Johnny Ray Memorial Pro Wall Ball Tournament. According to Dmitry Druzhinsky, the intra-city rivalry is led by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. to get inner-city and under-served youth engaged in physical activity while benefiting the U.S. Wall Ball Association’s education, anti-violence and anti-obesity initiatives. The tournament first took place in 2012 to celebrate the life of Jonathan Ray, the late brother of the USWA CEO and inspiration behind the association’s creation. Dmitry celebrates the opportunity to provide support to organizations promoting a healthy lifestyle.
